Listen up, I am not trying to support any political party. I am neither PAS, BN, DAP, nor KeADILan. I am a Malaysian and I have a right to speak my mind about politics in my country! (ok, I have made my point)
From my eyes, I think we as Malaysians are maturing in our democratic system. I feel proud that now we have a government that represents all Malaysians – the more ‘traditional’ Malay Muslims, so-called liberal Malays, Chinese, Indians, etc. I hope this new government will bring some positive changes to Malaysia, and improve the racial integration between Malays, Chinese, and Indians. Yes, I am a Malay, but I am a Muslim first. As a Muslim, I have to treat people equally and have to stand for justice.
I love changes, that is why I came to the US. But, on the same time, it’s scary. After the election, KLSE index dropped more than 10% because the investors became uncertain with the new form of Malaysian government. This type of government never existed since Malaysia’s Independence. It was always the National Party that ruled most of the states in Malaysia. But now, the “Islamist” Party is ruling about 3 states. A party which previously opposed the establishment of an Islamic country, is now ruling around 2 or 3 states. These parties have different ideologies and now there are both ruling the country along side with the National Party.
Why I mentioned Nasi Lemak, u might ask. Well, Nasi Lemak is the best Malay’s breakfast ever created in this world. It’s coconut rice with sambal (hot sauce), cucumber, fried fish, boiled egg, and fried peanuts. It consists of everything which make it so delicious. You can even add any side dishes to Nasi Lemak, and it becomes much better. So, I can see that the variation in the current Malaysia government is as good as the variation in Nasi Lemak. But, you can’t have too much of one or the other because it will harm your health. If you have too much coconut milk in your rice, or have too much fried food dishes in your Nasi Lemak, you will get high blood pressure, etc (I’m not a doctor!). If you have too much cucumber, it will deteriorate the taste. To make the best Nasi Lemak, you need to have balance in every ingredient and in everything.
All in all, that’s just my opinion. I miss Nasi Lemak.
